GATEWAYS Summer School is a non-profit, community-based organization. It was formed in 1982 by parents, in order to provide unique educational experiences for San Diego students during the summer. Parents are responsible for administration and organization of the program. Our income comes from tuition and is used for teacher salaries, room rental, equipment and supplies.

GATEWAYS will be renting the classrooms at The San Diego Jewish Academy: 11860 Carmel Creek Road, San Diego CA 92130.

Students who stay for lunch break will need to bring their own lunch. The San Diego Jewish Academy is a kosher campus. Please be respectful of the school policy when preparing lunch/snacks for your children. Basically you

Snack tickets are available for purchase in either $1, $5, or $10 amounts. You may purchase a snack tickets on campus in the GATEWAYS office. Snack items will be charged to the snack ticket at the rate of $1 per item.

The San Diego Jewish Academy is allowing us to use their school busses and drivers.

Limited scholarships are available. Scholarship information and application forms are available on-line. The deadline for scholarship application is Thursday May 18, 2017.

GATEWAYS Summer School offers fast-paced, intense enriching experiences for identified gifted and high-achieving children who are entering grades 1 through 12 in the fall. Course content does not include basic skills. Courses are designed for students who have mastered the basics and are interested in learning new concepts. Test results are not required for admission to GATEWAYS. However, in placing their children, parents are urged to note that all GATEWAYS classes are intended to challenge students who are achieving above grade level. Please note that typically gifted first and second graders can read and print legibly. They should be mature enough to participate in classroom discussions. Parents need to place their children in classes which are appropriate so that their experience will be rewarding.

GATEWAYS Summer School offers 3-week classes. All basic information and safety rules are given by the teachers on the first days of class. DO NOT register if you will be on vacation the first week of class.
